review rating 3  This place has SUCH good reviews and it seems they have a great team of experienced barbers. I don't doubt that a bit. I however, am not happy with my sons experience. I did my research to see if they could cut kids. When I called to ask, I was told there's one guy who does it, then when I told him when I wanted to come in, he said "all of our barbers cut children". I made sure to tell him my sons age before coming. He told me to book with anyone so that's what I did. When we got there, turns out there is only one guy that does children, so we ended up waiting because that's not who I booked. No big deal. He was sweet to my son and kept telling me he didn't want to traumatize him so we would go slow. I showed him the cut I wanted and really just said take some off the sides and the top. Halfway through, he begins trimming behind the ears with clippers and my son starts SCREAMING. Sounds like he does when getting shots. We thought he just didn't like the noise. We took a break, came back, same thing. We finished quickly and I tipped the guy anyways because I was grateful for his patience. He was a cool guy. Not 100% what I wanted but he tried and I was appreciative of that. What I didn't realize until we left is that he scratched my son with the clippers. Like actually nicked and scraped him. Cut his ear a bit. I felt so awful. I don’t totally blame the guy, I understand it is hard to cut a moving child’s hair. I’d just assume the clippers would have guards or extra precaution would be taken.I wanted my son to have a real barber experience and I expected more professionalism. Enough to know to use a guard for a child so young or to let me know that it wasn't a good idea. I understand it can be hard, but again that's where I would expect professionalism. I put my trust in him and just feel like crap. I'm just upset. Here's my warning to everyone.

review rating 5  What is your time worth? How many times have you gone to get your haircut only to arrive to a room full of people: 15 minute wait? 30 minute wait? Hour? And who doesn’t love the loud shout of: “NEXT!?!?” When you find a place you like, is the person who cut your hair before in that day? Do they even still work there? Do they remember you? Brick City Barbershop takes scheduled appointments. You will know exactly what time you’re getting your haircut. You will know exactly who is cutting your hair. When you come back (and you will come back) your barber will know you and your haircut. You will be in the chair at your scheduled time. You will be out of the chair in an efficient time, so the next scheduled appointment has the same experience. Isn’t this how business should be done? James is my barber. James knows me. James asked me if I had ever tried a hard part (I had not). I trusted James. Do you know who likes the hard part the most? My wife and daughter. After coming to James for over a year, I started growing a full beard. James has counseled and advised me along the way. James is a professional barber and master at his trade.

review rating 5  I’ve personally known Gino for 5 years. Not only is he an incredibly talented barber, he’s a wonderful person all around. He truly cares about his clients and his community. I worked side by side with him in the beginning of his career and knew he’d do big things. He’s professional and dedicated to his profession.
