Can’t say enough good things about Brick City Barbershop in Ocala, FL. Seriously—this place is the real deal. While I’m sure all the barbers here are top-notch (you kind of have to be when everyone seems booked out days in advance), I’ve only personally gone to Anthony Jimenez, and I can confidently say he’s outstanding at what he does.
First, the cut. Or in my case—the beard. I’m bald, so my beard is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the “personal style” department, and Anthony absolutely delivers every single time. Whether I’m going for a tighter, clean summer look or letting it grow out a bit for something fuller and more rugged, he knows exactly how to shape it to fit my face. His fades are clean, his lines are sharp, and the overall sculpting is on point. It’s one of those situations where you walk in feeling a little rough around the edges and walk out looking like you’ve got your life together. And as a bonus, he also tames my out-of-control eyebrows—which, trust me, is a public service my wife is very grateful for.
Second, the shop itself. Brick City Barbershop absolutely nails the vibe. It’s got this laid-back, punk-rock energy that feels authentic without trying too hard. The music is always solid, the decor is cool without being overdesigned, and the whole space just feels welcoming. It’s not one of those places that feels outdated and stuck in time, and it’s also not trying to be some overly polished, corporate version of a barbershop. It hits that perfect middle ground—clean, comfortable, and genuinely cool. You can tell it’s a place built by people who care about the craft and the culture of barbering.
Third—and this is important—book an appointment. Yes, they do have a walk-in barber, but do yourself (and them) a favor and schedule ahead online. It’s quick, easy, and saves you from sitting around hoping for an opening. This place is busy for a reason, and planning ahead just makes the whole experience smoother.
Also worth noting: don’t let the aesthetic or the fact that it’s mostly male barbers make you think this place isn’t for everyone. I’ve personally seen a wide range of clients come through, including women, and everyone gets the same level of care and attention. They clearly know how to work with different styles, preferences, and hair types, which says a lot about the skill level across the board.
At the end of the day, it’s just great to have a spot like this in Ocala. A barbershop that combines high-quality work, a welcoming atmosphere, and genuinely talented people isn’t something you take for granted. I always leave feeling better than when I walked in, and that’s really what it’s all about. Hope these guys stick around for a long time—they’ve definitely earned a loyal customer in me.
